Send a GPX route to your Garmin watch — no cable, no subscription
You planned a route and now it needs to reach your watch — and suddenly a paywall appears. Not here: the route travels over the air to your Garmin, and it costs nothing.
🗺️ Plan a route and send it to your watch →How it works
- Plan the route in Peakflow — tap the map, the line follows waymarked trails by itself.
- Tap “Send to watch”. The first time you pair the watch with a six-digit code.
- Open the free Peakflow app on the Garmin (Connect IQ store). The route is already there.
- Start. The watch guides you with turn prompts, remaining distance and the elevation profile — even with no phone nearby.
If you prefer the file
Every route can be downloaded as GPX and copied to the watch through Garmin Express or a cable, as usual. That detour only makes sense if you want the file for your archive anyway — over the air is quicker and needs no computer.
Which watches?
Anything that runs Connect IQ: Fenix, Epix, Forerunner, Instinct, Venu, Enduro. Older models without maps navigate with a direction arrow and the elevation profile instead of a map image — the route still arrives. Apple Watch and Wear OS connect the other way round, through Apple Health and Health Connect: your recorded activity lands in Peakflow automatically.
What it costs
Nothing. No subscription, no premium tier, no limit on routes. Peakflow is funded by partnerships with accommodation providers in the mountain regions, not by your routes.
Frequently asked
Do I need Garmin Connect Premium?
No. This runs through Connect IQ, which is free for every Garmin user.
Does it work offline in the mountains?
Yes, once the route is on the watch. Navigation itself needs no signal.
Can I send someone else’s GPX file?
Yes. Import the file into Peakflow — from Komoot, Outdooractive or Strava — and send it on from there.
