Planning a ski tour: slope angle, avalanche bulletin, timing
A ski tour is decided at the desk, not at the trailhead. The three questions are always the same: how steep, what is the bulletin saying, and when will I be on top?

- Open the winter map and choose ski touring.
- Switch on slope angle — everything above 30 degrees is shaded.
- Add the avalanche bulletin for the region and compare it with aspect and altitude.
- Draw the ascent: Peakflow calculates at skinning pace and avoids steep slopes if you want it to.
The 30-degree rule
Most avalanche accidents happen on slopes between 30 and 45 degrees. That makes the slope-angle layer the central planning tool — together with the question of which aspects the bulletin currently calls critical.
Wildlife zones
In winter every metre an animal flees is paid for dearly. Protected areas and wildlife zones are on the map with their seasons, and routes do not run through them.
What Peakflow cannot do
No app grants permission. The map shows steepness, aspect, altitude and the official assessment — the decision on the spot stays with the person standing there. Anyone selling it differently is selling something dangerous.

Yes, it comes from the responsible avalanche warning services of each region.
